Meet the Crew Behind Finding Mongolia

Updated: May 31, 2025

We’re three strangers from three continents who thought it’d be a good idea to drive a 2003 Suzuki Wagon R from Scotland to Mongolia. Why? Because we clearly make poor decisions — but at least we make them together.

Welcome to Finding Mongolia.

Just keep driving.

🚗 Akhil

Melbourne-based with roots in Sydney and India, Akhil’s a tech/startup guy on a sabbatical. He’s the one with the spreadsheets, backup plans, and camera always pointed at something “cinematic” — like a roadside kebab stand. Currently testing how many borders he can cross before someone questions his life choices.

🔧 Andy

Andy’s from just north of Liverpool and is our unofficial head mechanic — mostly because he actually knows what a carburetor is. After years in the tech world, he’s hitting pause for an adventure that’s equal parts breakdowns and backroads. He also gave Akhil a couch when he rolled through town, so technically this whole thing is his fault.

🧰 Judah

Judah’s a hedge fund guy from New Jersey with a knack for strategy and just enough car knowledge to talk confidently about things he maybe shouldn’t touch. Equal parts realist and chaos agent, he’s here for the challenge, the stories, and probably a few “I told you so” moments.

We didn’t know each other before this. Now we’re crammed into a tiny car called Dori for five months, chasing dirt roads and distant horizons.

What could possibly go wrong?

Follow the journey — it’s bound to be a beautiful mess.
